Assalamualaikum w.b.t and warm greetings to all parents and guardians,
We would like to extend a sincere welcome to the 2026 academic year at Sekolah Menengah Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (SMYSHHB). We hope everyone has had a restful school break. As the new term begins, we look forward to welcoming both our returning students and our new Year 7 and Year 9 students with renewed focus and enthusiasm.
Please take note of the following important dates for the start of the school term, as outlined below:
Commencement of School Sessions
- Year 8, Year 10 and Year 11: Saturday, 3 January 2026
Students will follow the normal timetable and are required to attend school in PE attire. - Year 9 Orientation Programme (with parents/guardians): Wednesday, 7 January 2026, Primary Hall.
Students are required to wear PE attire. - Year 7 Orientation Programme (with parents/guardians): Thursday, 8 January 2026 and Saturday, 10 January 2026, Primary Hall
Students should wear PE attire. PE shirts from previous schools are acceptable.
Parents and guardians are kindly reminded that student insurance is compulsory, as mandated by the Ministry of Education.
- For new students, please submit a copy of the insurance policy to the respective class teacher by 15 January 2026.
- For students with existing insurance, parents are advised to check and ensure that the policy is still valid and has not expired.
In addition, we would like to remind all students and parents of the following school rules and regulations, which must be adhered to at all times:
- Boys’ haircuts must be neat and smart. Hair must not pass the eyebrows, cover the ears, or touch the shirt collar.
- All students must ensure that their fingernails are neatly trimmed and kept short.
- Students must wear the proper school uniform or PE attire on days with PE lessons. Sports House shirts are only permitted on Wednesdays for CCA activities.
- Footwear requirements must be strictly followed: school shoes must be completely black, and socks must be plain white.
- Boys are not allowed to wear bracelets. Girls should avoid wearing decorative or fancy accessories.
